Our client approached Detailed Planning looking to complete a high quality single storey rear extension to their semi-detached property in Barnet, North London.
During the initial meetings with the client, we discussed their design requirements and shortly produced initial architectural drawings that were developed further into technical drawings.
The design incorporated many features to allow for a bright and airy extension, complementing the main house. The floor to ceiling bi-fold doors with reduced frames creates the perception of a seamless transition to the exterior.
In the design stage, a considerable amount of time was spent on how to achieve the overall required structural integrity, whilst simultaneously reducing the frame sizes around the doors.
The flat roof was finished using Fibre Glass, this technique is becoming increasingly popular and we expect the roof to last significantly longer compared to traditional roofing techniques, such as felt.
The large sky lantern floods light into the centre of the home, due to the size of the opening structural steels were required to support the glazing, the overall effect however is clearly worthwhile.
All structural works were complete by our recommended builder (Lewis Elliot Building Contractor) and project managed by Detailed Planning.
Overall, the client was very happy with the finished product and was delighted with our services. We enjoyed working with our client and hope another opportunity will arise in the future.
